ASU MUSIC CONSERVATORY PROGRAM SUMMER CAMPS

 

Sumer Music Camps are offered each year during the month of June.  They are generally addressed to the interests and activities of middle school and high school students.  Each camp is a full-day camp starting on Monday morning and ending with a concert on Friday evening.  Certain discounts on Camp fees may apply for Early-Bird registration and for participation in All-State or All-District (All-Region in South Carolina) Ensembles. 

The dates of the 2009 Summer Music Camps are as follows:

 

 

Choir Camp – June 8-12, 2009

For rising middle school and high school singers, this camp will concentrate on healthy singing, learning choral repertoire, training in musicianship and music fundamentals, Show Choir, and All-State tryout materials.

Band Camp – June 15-19, 2009

For rising middle school (at least a full year of school band experience) and high school musicians, this camp will work on challenging band repertoire as well as training in musicianship and improved instrumental skills. There are separate ensembles for the middle school and high school ages.  The camp also includes such activities as beginning guitar and piano, world drumming, and jazz band.

Orchestra Camp – June 22-26, 2009

This camp is for rising middle school and high school string players, with at least a full year of orchestra experience or private lessons.  It will concentrate on orchestra playing, (two age-appropriate ensembles) chamber music, and classes in music theory and history.  Alternate activities will include guitar for beginners, double bass for violinists, celtic fiddling, and recorder.
